Barbara Hannay has always wanted to write and her first story was penned for the Brownies’ writers’ badge. After that, she experimented with various writing styles and genres, but it was many years before she discovered category romance while researching a unit on popular fiction for her year eleven English class.

Four and a half years and several rejections years later, she travelled to London to meet her editor and embarked on an exciting new career. She has been a full time writer since 1999, publishing three to four books a year with Mills & Boon.
Barbara has been nominated for many awards, including three RITA nominations. She won a RITA in 2005, and has also won an Australian Romantic Book of the Year award, as well as a Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice award.
Barbara has given several workshops at conferences run by Romance Writers of Australia, she has attended and spoken at the Women’s Fiction Festival in Matera, Italy, and was co presenter in a workshop on writing romance with global appeal at the RWA conference in San Francisco in 2008.
