Research is necessary – the readers of historical romance are put off by historical errors. Once the work is done, you can let your imagination roam free. Historical romance takes the reader to unfamiliar times and places, where a hero fights for his lady’s honour, or waltzes the heroine around a glittering ballroom.
To get an idea of the variety of settings, themes and periods, pick up a Historical romance and be swept away into the past.
